Morrissey, a little frail but NEVER flinching, lit up the stage. As a seasoned performer, he vocalized a powerful roar -- this was only intensified by the emotional rawness in the theatre, the baited breath of fans who came so far to see their icon this last night in Italia.
The opener, "Hand in Glove" (The Smiths, 1984) echoed this intensity with an almost doubtful and an even more poignant lyric since its original release, "And I'll probably never see you again." It left many of the concert goers with a bit of a wet eye. We do hope to see you back in Italia!
Moz has been stripped bare by his recent health scares and it slightly shows, but oh boy, does it also show the relentless fight between The Mind: compassion, truth, wit, and justice, (in this instance, Morrissey.) vs. The Body: injustice, machinery, ruthlessness, and mortality (The battle that Life wages.) But Moz already summed this up years ago when he asked, "Does the body rule the mind? Or does the mind rule the body? I dunno," in the song "Still Ill" (The Smiths, 1984)
In the next few posts, we will go deeper into detail with videos, photographs in a series we'll title, “Morrissey: Final Night in Italy." The first video is off of Morrissey's newest album, World Peace Is None Of Your Business (2014) and the song is titled, "I'm Not A Man"
And as fans, we wish Moz many, many more years of whatever he damn well wants.

He's still here, folks. The microphone cord still whips the air as he sarcastically and playfully lashes his loves and foes of both the past and the present.
Early on in the gig, Morrissey quipped that he saw nothing beautiful about “industrialized Padova” on his drive in -- It was clear that even the audience would not be spared. This of course, did nothing but thrill everyone in attendance!

Noi di UKN eravamo piu' che in estasi durante l'ultima data del tour italiano di Morrissey, in supporto di "World Peace Is None Of Your Business", data che si e' tenuta a Padova il 22 ottobre 2014 al Gran Teatro Geox. Morrissey, che appariva un po' fragile ma MAI in difficolta' ha acceso il palcoscenico, vocalizzando un potente ruggito -- e questo veniva intensificato dalla quasi brutale emotivita' che si avvertiva all'interno del teatro e dal respiro infervorato dei fan che vengono da lontano per vedere il proprio idolo per l'ultima notte in Italia.
Il pezzo iniziale "Hand in Glove" (The Smiths, 1984) eccheggia questa intensita' con un testo quasi dubbioso sul futuro ma di certo commovente fin dalla sua pubblicazione originale. "E probabilmente non ti vedro piu'", lasciando molti degli astanti con gli occhi umidi. Noi tutti speriamo di rivederti qui in Italia invece!
Il Moz e' emotivamente provato dalle paure sulla sua salute (e si vede) e di certo si avverte anche un'implacabile lotta tra la Mente, in questo caso Morrissey (compassione, verita', spirito e giustizia) e il Corpo (ingiustizia, meccanicita', spietatezza, mortalita'). Questa e' la battaglia che la vita comporta. Ma il Moz aveva gia' riassunto tutto questo anni fa quando chiese, "E' il corpo che comanda la mente? O e' la mente che comanda il corpo? Non lo so", nella canzone "Still Ill" (sempre su The Smiths, 1984).
Ma lui e' ancora qua, gente. La corda del microfono frusta l'aria mentre sarcasticamente e giocosamente si scatena contro amori e nemici passati e presenti.
All'inizio del concerto Morrissey dice di non aver visto niente di bello nell'"industrializzata Padova" mentre arrivava -- E' chiaro che neanche il pubblico verra' risparmiato. Ma questo non fa altro che eccitare ulteriormente la folla!
